About the role
- Role purpose: To support the delivery of key mining and decarbonisation approvals.
- You will write approvals documentation under the direction/guidance of the Principal Environment (Sustaining Approvals).
- The ability to adapt to shifting deliverables and evolving scopes of work is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering high-quality Mining Proposals and native vegetation clearing permits (NVCPs) that align with business objectives for land access.
- Contribute to environmental risk assessments to guide approval applications.
- Support the development of Approvals Advice based on Business Scoping Documents.
- Collaborate with SMEs to ensure approval inputs are accurate, high-quality, and timely.
- Identify and escalate risks to approval schedules while proposing solutions.
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven experience in environmental management related to project implementation and operations across diverse business areas.
- Over five years of experience in an environmental role within the energy and resources sector or a relevant government department.
- Skilled in preparing approvals submissions under the WA Mining Act.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the WA Mining Act and associated approvals processes.
- Familiarity with state and federal environmental legislation, along with hands-on experience in its application.
- Strong understanding of the Pilbara environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and GIS software applications.

- Exceptional report writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders to secure key inputs for approvals.
- Strong resilience, organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or a related field.
