My client is seeking a highly experienced Project Engineer to join our team for a 12-month project. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and delivering a range of key activities in the development of a new lab facility, including the design, installation, and commissioning of equipment and infrastructure. This includes managing both new and existing systems to enhance operational efficiency and ensure safety and quality standards are met.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop the land for a new lab building and steel structures.
- Install and commission primary and secondary sampling cutters.
- Refurbish existing slug conveyors.
- Convert the existing sample tower into a transfer station.
- Design, supply, install, and commission new stretching and reject conveyors.
- Oversee the design and installation of a new lab building, including electrical and communication systems, HVAC, compressed air, potable/process water, fire detection, controls room, and ablutions.
- Coordinate the acceptance, unloading, and connection of all lead-in and outgoing cabling to the transportable switchroom.
- Manage the placement and connection of specialist company-supplied lab equipment.
- Oversee the decommissioning of existing equipment at the sample tower.
- Lead commissioning and successful handover of completed systems.
- Provide post-commissioning support and ongoing project coordination.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 12 years’ experience in project management and delivering multi-disciplinary projects in a mining environment (SMP/Civil/E&I/Controls).
- Strong focus on safety during design and on-site activities.
- In-depth experience managing contractors, resolving technical queries, and ensuring the timely submission of deliverables as per the project schedule.
- Expertise in coordinating approvals for contractor technical deliverables, including drawings and documents.
- Proven experience in QA/QC for subcontractor supplies and documentation management (QAPs, ITPs, MDRs).
- Hands-on experience with site installations and commissioning, including collaborating with contractors to develop construction methodologies, risk assessments, and shutdown plans.
- Ability to oversee site work, ensuring successful practical completion and handover.
