Mechanical Designer

Responsibilities:

  • System Design: Develop 3D models of locomotive assemblies, incorporating electrical systems such as power distribution, control, auxiliary, and traction systems.
  • Detailed Engineering Design: Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, translating them into 3D models.
  • Integration: Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Cost Management: Assist in cost estimation for components and systems, optimizing designs for cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting: Participate in testing and troubleshooting electrical systems, addressing issues during prototype and production phases.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, revisions, and project lifecycle records.
  • CAD Proficiency: Utilize Siemens NX, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD for drafting, modeling, and creating 2D/3D drawings.
  • CAD Management: Develop and manage complex CAD assemblies with 5000+ parts, ensuring compliance with data management processes.
Experience:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in 2D and 3D design and drafting.
  • Experience in both conceptual design and full detailed design for production and assembly.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX preferred, or SolidWorks and AutoCAD for mechanical design.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience with battery-electric vehicles or train systems is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to rail and locomotives is highly regarded.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
